Take control of your diabetes by asking your doctor for a referral to the Diabetic Education Program at Community Hospital. You'll gain comprehensive information and insights into what happens in your body when you have diabetes, and learn strategies available to care for the condition. These strategies include diet, exercise, blood sugar monitoring, and medication including insulin administration.
This program, in conjunction with BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln, is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education, and qualifies for Medicare and insurance reimbursement in most cases. The diabetic support group, sponsored by Community Hospital, is open to all diabetics, their families and those interested in learning more about diabetes. Education related to diabetics is presented such as carb counting, portion control, label reading, medications, insulin, exercise and stress managment. The group meets for about one hour. No reservations are required and there is no charge to attend. The support group generally meets every other month at Community Hospital on the third Thursday, September through May.
