Campaign for Cancer Care
The word “cancer” brings immediate fear to those who hear the term; whether it is a diagnosis for oneself, a loved one or a dear friend, cancer touches everyone in one way or another.
Community Hospital Health Foundation is partnering with Community Hospital to make cancer care a top priority. Expanding on successful efforts that brought medical oncology treatment to the facility, Community Hospital is embarking on a journey to also make radiation oncology available locally for the people it serves.
The radiation oncology focus requires construction of a specialized center to house a linear accelerator for radiation treatment. Currently patients must travel 70 miles one way to the nearest facility. Community Hospital wants to remove the financial burden and physical stress of traveling to receive care, by bring radiation oncology close to home.
