Diabetic Grocery Store Tours Offered in September

Community Hospital is sponsoring diabetic grocery store tours in McCook in September for the diabetic patient, pre-diabetics and interested others. Pat Rice, registered dietitian and Monica Wacker, R.N., certified diabetes educator, will walk attendees through the grocery store on an educational tour. Participants will learn how to make healthy choices when shopping, how to read nutrition labels, how to shop for healthy snacks and much more.
The grocery store tours will be at Schmicks Market on September 11 at 8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. and September 20 at 8:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. They will also be offered in the Wal-Mart grocery department (meet at the south door) on September 6, 13 and 18 beginning at 8:30 a.m. All tours will last about two hours.
The tours are offered at no cost. Each participant will receive a packet of educational materials and a free grocery tote. Group size is limited so make your reservations as soon as possible. Call Rice at 308-344-8431 for reservations or for more information.
