McCook,Nebraska—Three, $2,000 scholarships and four, $500 scholarships to four deserving students were awarded recently. The $2,000 scholarships are funded through donations to the general scholarship fund administered through Community Hospital Health Foundation. The $500 scholarships were awarded from the Joe and Alice Edwards endowed scholarship fund. Applications are reviewed by aCommunityHospitalcommittee representing diverse areas of healthcare. The following three students were awarded $2,000 each in education assistance:
Whitney Rice received her second scholarship fromCommunityHospital. Whitney is pursuing her education towards becoming an Occupational Therapist through theCollegeofSt. MaryinOmaha. Whitney plans to return to the area upon graduation in 2014.
Courtney Einspahr is a graduate ofMcCookCommunity College. She recently was accepted into the radiology program atLaramieCountyCommunity CollegeinWyoming. She hopes to complete her studies in 2013 and return to McCook. Her long-term goals are to cross train in CT andMRItechnology.
Sarah Willers is a graduate ofMcCookCommunity College. She will begin her 21-month radiography program with the University of Nebraska Medical Center at theColumbusCommunityHospitalsite. Sarah plans to be certified in both CT andMRIradiography with a long-term goal of studying Nuclear Medicine.
Additionally, Whitney, Courtney and Sarah all received a $500 scholarship through the Joe and Alice Edwards Scholarship fund.
Betsy Hardin, a recentMcCookHigh Schoolgraduate, was also a recipient of a $500 Edwards Scholarship. She will begin her undergraduate prerequisite course of study in pre-speech and language pathology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
