Diabetic Support Group Offering Special November Program

Community Hospital diabetic support group will meet Thursday, November 7 at noon in the Prairie View A meeting room. Sharon Conroy, RN, infection protection nurse and Anthony Rodewald, registered pharmacist will present a program entitled “Ways to Protect Yourself This Winter.” They will discuss the current flu vaccine, other necessary vaccines and the use and overuse of antibiotics. Following the presentation, 15-minute private sessions will be offered for participants to “Ask the Educator.” Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of Pat Rice, registered dietitian or Monica Wacker, RN, certified diabetes educator.

Those attending may also want to shop at Community Hospital’s Garden View Gift Shop Christmas Open House. It will be open from 7:30AM to 5PM on Thursday as well as 7:30AM to 3PM on Friday, November 8. Hot cider and cookies will be served, door prizes offered and 20 percent off Christmas décor. Also offered on Thursday in the hospital’s front lobby will be a Giving Station for Big Give McCook.

There is no charge to attend. The diabetic support group is sponsored by Community Hospital and is open to all diabetics, their families and those interested in learning more about diabetes. The group generally meets for about one hour every other month at Community Hospital on the third week of the month, September through May.
