Evan Geilenkirchen CRNA Receives Caring Kind Award

Evan Geilenkirchen, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, is Community Hospital’s Caring Kind Recipient for 2019. He was honored October 18 as Community Hospital’s Caring Kind recipient during the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) annual convention in La Vista. During the convention, Geilenkirchen was a guest at the Caring Kind luncheon along with other recipients from across the state.

The Caring Kind award is a time-honored tradition of the NHA. It recognizes outstanding health care employees who have demonstrated compassion for patients, cooperation with coworkers and dedication to providing the best care possible. Hospitals across the state select a Caring Kind recipient from within their respective institutions.

Geilenkirchen was nominated by co-workers and chosen by the Community Hospital PACT committee (Pride, Activities, Communication Team). His nomination read: “Evan goes above and beyond to care for not only his patients but also his co-workers. No matter the time of day or night he is called in, or the situation, he is always compassionate, kind, and caring to all. Evan has a welcoming attitude. He never complains about anything and is seriously an awesome person. Each day before he leaves, he always stops and checks to see if anybody needs any help in the ER and if everything is ok. Whether it is placing an epidural in LDR, calling for an alternative airway in ER, or starting a tricky IV site on the floor, Evan is great for questions and always addresses everyone with a smile. He is always professional and treats everyone with respect, even in stressful situations. He likes to be involved in hospital activities and meetings so he knows what is going on in other departments and to improve the hospital. It is truly our pleasure to work with Evan.”

Evan has been working as a nurse anesthetist at Community Hospital since 2014. Prior to that he worked in Missouri three years, North Platte eight years and Cozad five years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1992 from the University of Nebraska College of Nursing. Evan completed his nurse anesthesia degree at Mount Marty College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1997.

Evan and his wife, Jane, have two grown sons, Erik and Jacob. He is a member of the Civil Air Patrol in North Platte, as well as The Gideons International and the McCook Evangelical Free Church.
