November 7, 2022

Community Hospital is excited to announce the hospital’s 2022 Caring Kind recipient is Charlotte Marks, BSN, RN, Transition of Care & Patient Educator. She was honored in October as Community Hospital’s Caring Kind recipient during the Nebraska Hospital Association annual convention in La Vista. During the convention, Marks was a guest at the Caring Kind luncheon along with other recipients from across the state.

She was nominated by co-workers and chosen by the Community Hospital PACT committee (Pride, Activities, Communication Team). Her nominations read:

“Charlotte is the kindest, most caring person I know. She never talks negatively or secretly about others. She is a team player and very helpful. Charlotte is just genuinely kind to patients, families and co-workers. Very deserving of this award. It is rare to find such a kind soul during these times; it is refreshing to talk with her. I have witnessed Charlotte’s kindness many times, some when she did not even know anyone was around. Charlotte Marks has such a sweet spirit and goes above and beyond, successfully showing others how important they are, and how much she cares for them as individuals. She is a blessing. She is very innovative in the position of transition of care. Even without knowing Charlotte personally, I have noticed she is always smiling and has a real warmth about her, I have heard only great things about her; sure am glad she is a co-worker.”

Marks joined Community Hospital in August 2021. Prior to that, she worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She and her husband, Larry have owned a ranch south of Culbertson for 23 years. Larry is also a mechanic for Titan Machinery. They have two children, Jancy, a daughter, 22, and Jassn, a son, 12. She grew up in southwest Kansas. Following high school, she taught for six years in Bible schools in Nigeria and Cameroon.

For 41 years, the Nebraska Hospital Association has been honored to bestow awards to Nebraska health care employees that have risen to the top by providing service excellence and dedication to their profession. These award recipients commit themselves to the betterment of their hospitals and health systems, their customers, their co-workers and their communities.

Award Criteria

Each NHA member hospital and health system is invited to nominate one employee from their facility who exemplifies caring, compassion, teamwork and service excellence in their job responsibilities.
