Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss to Raise Support

In a heartwarming tradition that has become a beloved community event, McCook Bison fans are gearing up for the Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss during the halftime of the boys’ varsity basketball game against Gering on Friday, February 9th. The much-anticipated event aims to bring joy and comfort to pediatric patients by collecting and donating stuffed animals.

Basketball enthusiasts and compassionate community members are invited to participate in this heartwarming gesture by bringing new stuffed animals to toss onto the court during the halftime break. The boys’ varsity game is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.

The donated stuffed animals will find their way into the arms of young patients receiving care at Community Hospital, Curtis Medical Center, and Trenton Medical Clinic. The initiative not only adds a touch of magic to the basketball game but also supports the well-being of children facing medical challenges.

This year's Teddy Bear Toss is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Big West Basketball and their players. "Put a smile on the face of a child," encourages the event coordinator, Katie Anderson. Community members are encouraged to purchase new stuffed animals and join the festivities, cheering on the McCook Bison Basketball team while contributing to a worthy cause.

"The stuffed animals collected during the event will be a heartwarming donation to the Community Hospital Health Foundation, playing a vital role in our 'Prizes for Pokes' program. These cuddly companions will bring comfort and joy to many young patients. We extend our sincere gratitude to Big West Basketball and its players for their ongoing support and dedication to making a positive impact in the community," says Jessica Bortner, Director of the Community Hospital Health Foundation.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a memorable evening that goes beyond the basketball court – an evening where a simple act of tossing a teddy bear can bring immeasurable joy to a child in need. Let's make the Third Annual Teddy Bear Toss a resounding success.
