CH Receives Lung Cancer Screening Award
Community Hospital, in partnership with McCook Clinic, Curtis Medical Center, and Trenton Medical Clinic, was honored with the Lung Cancer Screening Award of Excellence from the American Cancer Society in cooperation with the Healthcare QUality Improvement Platform (HQUIP). The award ceremony on August 14 honored the remarkable achievement of screening 21% of the region for lung cancer. This significant increase surpasses the national average, and Community Hospital is on track to screen nearly 25% of eligible patients in 2025.
This remarkable accomplishment highlights the dedication and collaborative efforts of the healthcare providers in the region to improve early detection and treatment of lung cancer. The recognition from the American Cancer Society and HQUIP underscores the importance of proactive screening and the positive impact it has on community health.
The event featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, including Troy Bruntz, Community Hospital President and CEO who delivered the welcome address, and Jesse Juenemann, Community Hospital Director of Radiology, who shared insights into the screening program. Dr. Jason Blomstedt, McCook Clinic, provided an overview of the clinical significance of the screenings. Debra Dougher from HQUIP and Andy Link, American Cancer Society representative also spoke, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives. Dr. Neville Irani concluded the ceremony with remarks on the future of lung cancer screening and treatment.
The ceremony was attended by notable guests, including McCook Mayor Linda Taylor, patients who have benefited from the screenings, and representatives from the partnering medical facilities.
