Occupational Therapist Joins Medical Staff

June 26, 2018

An occupational therapist has joined Community Hospital’s therapy staff. Laren Roper, McCook, who has been an OT for 26 years, will see patients full-time at Community Hospital’s Rehabilitation Center. Laren is a certified hand therapist since 2012 who excels at advanced splinting skills. At his previous position in North Platte, he developed an onsite hand therapy clinic to increase timeliness of splinting needs and acute hand therapy and to work more closely with the orthopedic and hand surgeons. He also provides therapy for work conditioning and evaluates workplace and home ergonomics. Laren has worked in a variety of work settings including skilled nursing, acute care, home health, outpatient, and acute rehab. “I am excited to be on the occupational therapy team here at Community Hospital and am looking forward to contributing to quality care of our communities’ patients,” Roper said. He received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado and his Master of Science in occupational therapy from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He and his wife, Tanya, have five children, three grandchildren and are expecting two more grandchildren. He joins a staff of two occupational therapists, Sara Krajewski and Valerie Loop, as well as Mariah Pierson, occupational therapy assistant. A doctor’s referral is needed for treatment. For more information, call the Community Hospital Rehabilitation Center at 308-344-8383.
