Board of Directors Meet April 18

McCook, Nebraska—At their recent board meeting on April 18, Community Hospital board of directors approved the Community HealthCare and Hospice annual program evaluation and heard more on the hospital’s strategic planning process.

Barbie Long, Director of Community HealthCare and Hospice, was present for the program’s annual evaluation. She said the department has been very busy with about 50 patients on average. More staff has been hired to cover the demand. Home health and hospice services provide care in seven counties including Red Willow, Frontier, Furnas, Hayes, Hitchcock, Dundy and Chase.

Under board education, Steve Shaner, Strategic Planning Director, presented the second step of Community Hospital’s strategic planning process timeline which includes learning the Voice of the Customer, completing a gap analysis and determining areas of strategic focus.

Also under board education, the board discussed the content of a video, “The Curious Case of the Healthcare Consumer.” The board defined what healthcare consumers value most in healthcare providers, identified three key areas where healthcare providers fail to fulfill consumer expectations and discussed how the board can support a consumer-centric environment at Community Hospital.

Consent Agenda

Minutes were approved from the March 21, 2018 regular meeting of the board of directors. Minutes were also approved from the April 4 regular meeting of the board of directors regarding Policy and Operational Performance.

Other Action to be Taken

Directors approved medical staff appointments for Telemedicine Staff privileges and medical staff reappointments for Affiliate Staff, Courtesy Staff, and Consulting Staff privileges.

Review of Activities

Under review of activities, the board reviewed upcoming meetings, as well as thank you notes.
