Board of Directors Met March 18

McCook, Nebraska—The Community Hospital Board of Directors met on March 18.

Board Education

Under board education, the directors reviewed the bylaws of the Community Hospital Association.

Consent Agenda

Minutes and committee reports were approved from the February 18 regular meeting of the board of directors, February 12 of the regular meeting of the medical staff and February 27 meeting of the “Special” budget and finance committee.

Action to be Taken

Under Action to be Taken, the board approved the following privileges: Consulting Medical Staff-Appointment, Active Medical Staff-Reappointment, Consulting Medical Staff-Reappointment and Allied Health Staff-Reappointment.

The directors also approved the proposal by Seim Johnson for annually required auditing, accounting and related consulting services for our Hospital and Foundation.

Review of Activities

Dari Olson, Safety Director, presented the 2014 environment of care annual report, 2014 emergency management annual report, 4th quarter safety report for the board of directors and the environment of care committee dashboard.

The environment of care annual report evaluated the 2014 program in whether objectives were met or not met and listed the 2015 goals under the areas of safety management, security management, hazardous materials and waste, fire prevention/life safety program, medical equipment and utility systems.

The 4th quarter 2014 infection control/employee health report was presented by Sharon Conroy, Infection Control, Employee Health Director. Healthcare-associated infection rates for October through December for 30 days out were 0%. There were 16 communicable diseases report the state health department in October, 10 reported in November and 17 reported in December.

In October, the infection control committee met with Southwest Public Health Department, Community Hospital safety director, Community Hospital director of nursing and the McCook EMS group concerning EBOLA personal protective equipment availability, screening of potential patients and education to staff and community. EBOLA kits were placed in the emergency department. Donning and doffing of personal protective equipment training exercises were presented to key patient care staff. An EBOLA presentation was given to the Sterling Connection in November.

In other review of activities to the board of directors, thank you notes and other correspondence were read and distributed.
