Celebrating National Rehab Awareness Week

McCook, Nebraska—Community Hospital’s rehabilitation staff is celebrating National Rehabilitation Awareness Week by inviting the public to attend a Rehabilitation Center open house on Thursday, September 19 from 7 to 9 a.m.

During the self-guided tour of Community Hospital’s beautiful rehab facility, attendees can visit information stations offering:

  • Physical Therapy—Therapists will demonstrate exercises and workout strategies using an obstacle balance course and group balance challenge. They will also demonstrate the Unloading System, a machine to help neutralize the effects of gravity on the body to allow those with injuries to exercise. Information about exercises to use in the aquatic therapy pool or public pool will be offered.
  • Occupational Therapy—OTs will provide ergonomic strategies for carrying purses, handbags, luggage and backpacks.
  • Speech Therapy—Speech/Language pathologists are offering free hearing screenings. Information will be available on language, swallowing, brain function and the effects of degenerative diseases on speech.
  • Massage Therapy—Enjoy free mini-chair massages from our new massage therapist to decrease soreness in your back and neck.
  • Nutrition Services—Our dietitian will help you identify proper portion sizes to aid with weight management.

A light breakfast, giveaways and door prizes will be offered.
