Review of Activities

Dari Olson, Safety Director, presented the Environment of Care and Emergency Management annual reports. Under safety management, she noted that the 99% of the employees attended their annual all-day inservice training last year and 97% of new hires received their department specific training within the required days of hiring. Both measurements met goal for the year. Work comp incidents, which were 11 for the year, were up by four from the previous year.

Under Security Management, there were only 11 security incidences reported for 2013, as compared to 31 reported for 2012. Staff participated in a Code Adam last month, testing the HUGS security system in the new patient wing. She said there was good staff response.

In the area of Hazardous Materials and Waste, Olson reported training was held three times in 2013. Decon team members now number 34 compared to 21 in 2012.

She said there were no health care associated infections reported for the targeted surveillance on surgery patients who received bowel resections, hysterectomies and all implants 90 days and one year out. There were also no infections reported for Foley catheters and central lines for the quarter.
