Named as 2018 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital

February 13, 2018

McCook, Nebraska—Community Hospital was recently named for the second year in a row as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

““This achievement is valued greatly by the leaders and staff of Community Hospital,” said Troy Bruntz, Community Hospital President & CEO. “It reflects a much broader combination of metrics than most awards and compares us to like hospitals across the country. Our staff works extremely hard to make improvements every day and to consistently provide excellent and affordable care our patients can rely on. This award is validation of their commitment to excellence.”

Community Hospital scored in the top 100 of Critical Access Hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength INDEX®. The INDEX is the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural provider performance. Its results are the basis for many of rural healthcare’s most prominent awards, advocacy efforts and legislative initiatives. The list of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals can be found at

The Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals play a key role in providing a safety net to communities across America. The INDEX measures them across eight pillars of hospital strength: Inpatient Share Ranking, Outpatient Share Ranking, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspectives and Financial Stability.

“The Hospital Strength INDEX provides a true benchmark for helping rural providers to better understand performance levels and identify areas of improvement. When we look across the spectrum of rural-relevant INDEX indicators, the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals are establishing a new standard for how to deliver higher quality care to their communities despite an unpredictable healthcare environment,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
