Offering Free Colorectal Cancer Screening

March 30, 2016

McCook—Community Hospital in partnership with CHI Health Good Samaritan, in recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, have joined forces to provide the community with free colorectal cancer screening test kits March 30-April 29. Men and women ages 50 or older and those with increased risk are encouraged to contact Community Outreach and Wellness Coordinator, Sarah Wolford, at 308-344-8550 or skwolford@chmccook.org to request a free test kit. Kits can also be ordered online by going to the hospital's website at www.chmccook.org and clicking on Colorectal Health Check 2016.

Participants will be mailed a home fecal occult blood test, with directions, that requires three consecutive stool samples. Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska will then analyze completed tests for microscopic signs of blood and inform participants and their primary care physicians of the results.

Test kits will also be available at Community Hospital’s wellness fair Wednesday and Thursday from 7-9 a.m.
