Sleep Lab Receives Accreditation

May 19, 2017

McCook, Nebraska—The Community Hospital sleep studies lab underwent its first specialty accreditation survey by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) on April 19. Hospital leaders learned this week it is fully accredited.

The lab had been previously accredited as a part of the hospital accreditation until recent changes with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rules. To comply with CMS, Community Hospital is now required to be accredited under a separate accreditation by one of two approved CMS agencies.

“The process to achieve this recognition as a high quality lab that delivers care to meet or exceed the standards set forth by ACHC is not an easy task to achieve,” said Brad Langdorf, Community Hospital Vice President Clinical Services & CNO. “We are blessed to have a dedicated team of professionals that step up to the challenge every day.”

At the conclusion of the survey, the surveyor said she had to look very hard to find anything that was less than the standards and in many examples, identified areas where she was impressed.

“This survey is just one example of the amount of hard work Community Hospital employees do every day to make the hospital great, Brad said. “The Sleep Studies Team is a shining example of this devotion and dedication to our patients, the community we serve.”
