Community Hospital Sponsors “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event at Red Willow County rodeo

July 13, 2015

McCook, Nebraska— Are you ‘Tough Enough to Wear Pink’? Community Hospital and the Red Willow County Rodeo Committee have joined forces to celebrate the success of regional cancer care in McCook. Community Hospital provides state-of-the-art cancer care services for patients throughout Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas. If you are ‘Tough Enough,’ wear pink and come meet the hospital’s cancer services care team before the rodeo on Sunday, July 26. Rodeo goers will have an opportunity to donate toward Community Hospital cancer services. The rodeo begins at 8 p.m. at the Red Willow County fairgrounds grandstands.

Community Hospital opened the Anderson Center for Radiation Oncology last year, allowing patients to receive their daily radiation treatments close to home. Community Hospital also offers medical oncology treatments in the hospital’s Infusion Department where patients can receive chemotherapy from trained oncology nurses.

With weekly visits from the radiation oncologist, Todd Hlavaty, M.D. and two medical oncologists, Ahmed Awais, M.D. and Maria deVilla, M.D. from North Platte’s Callahan Cancer Center, patients can be assured they are receiving advanced cancer care. Other full-time staff includes nurse practitioner, Theresa Langan, and radiation therapists Sara Rybacki and Emily Yager.
