Advanced Robotic Surgery

Advanced technology. Expert care. Close to home.

Community Hospital is investing in advanced surgical technology to give patients access to more treatment options right here in our region.

From robotic-assisted surgery to innovative technology for urology and orthopedics, our surgeons are bringing new capabilities to the operating room while keeping one thing at the center of every procedure: the patient.

Robotic technology does not replace the surgeon. Instead, it provides additional tools, information and precision to support the surgeon throughout the procedure.

da Vinci 5 Robotic Surgical System - General Surgery

daVinci LookingAdvanced technology for minimally invasive surgery

COMING SOON!

The da Vinci 5 is Intuitive’s newest generation of robotic-assisted surgical technology. The system gives surgeons a highly detailed 3D view and advanced instruments designed to provide precision, control and range of motion during minimally invasive procedures.

At Community Hospital, providers will use the da Vinci 5 to provide robotic-assisted surgical options for patients in our region.

What does robotic-assisted surgery mean?

The surgeon is in control of the procedure at all times. Using the da Vinci system, the surgeon operates through small incisions while controlling specialized instruments from a surgical console. For certain procedures and patients, minimally invasive surgery may offer advantages such as smaller incisions and shorter recovery compared with open surgery.

ROSA® Knee System - Orthopedics

ROSA JointsPersonalized technology for total knee replacement

COMING SOON!

Coming soon, Dr. Evan Correll, visiting Orthopedic Surgeon from Great Plains Health, will begin performing total knee replacements with the ROSA Knee System at Community Hospital.

ROSA, which stands for Robotic Surgical Assistant, supports surgeons during total knee replacement by providing information to help plan implant positioning and assess the knee during surgery. Zimmer Biomet describes the technology as providing objective soft-tissue feedback and assistance with accurate bone resections.

The surgeon remains in control throughout the procedure, using information from ROSA to help guide the surgery based on the individual patient's anatomy.

Aquablation Therapy - Urology

Aquablation TherapyRobotic technology for enlarged prostate

NOW AVAILABLE

Community Hospital already offers Aquablation therapy with visiting specialists Dr. Joshua Caldwell, Sidney Regional Medical Center, and Dr. LaRoy Williams, Kearney Urology Center.

Aquablation is a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, commonly known as an enlarged prostate. It combines imaging and robotically controlled technology with a high-pressure, heat-free waterjet to remove targeted prostate tissue.

For men experiencing urinary symptoms related to an enlarged prostate, Aquablation provides another treatment option without an external incision.

Technology is only part of the story

The people behind the technology

Bringing advanced surgical technology to Community Hospital takes an entire team.

Our surgical team, led by Jill Truksa, Director of Surgery, is working to prepare our operating rooms and support the technology, equipment and processes needed for these new procedures.

Your team at Community Hospital continues to move surgical care forward for patients across our region.

Advanced care without going far from home

For patients in southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas and eastern Colorado, access to advanced surgical technology shouldn't always require a long trip.

By continuing to invest in our surgeons, surgical teams and technology, Community Hospital is expanding the care available right here in McCook.

Talk with your provider to learn whether one of these treatment options may be appropriate for you.
