Life Support Education

Please note that course availability is dependent on class volume. We have to have at least 4 students to hold a class but each class has a limited number of students. Registration deadlines are two weeks before the day of the class, unless otherwise stated on the course page. Some exceptions will be made, but may result in late registration fees.

All registrations, including late registrations, must be verified by our Course Director. Please fill out our online form. Once you are verified, our Course Director will contact you and the course materials will be mailed to you. All materials and course fees must be paid on the day of class before class begins.

Heartsaver and BLS for HCP Skills Evaluation Sessions are set up on an as needed basis. To schedule a course or for more information about these, please contact our Course Director below.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS/HCP)

The AHA’s BLS courses reinforce healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing basic steps of CPR, relieving choking, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival. In this classroom-based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Healthcare professionals that respond to cardiovascular emergencies in and out of the hospital enhance their treatment knowledge and skills through the AHA’s ACLS training courses. ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

The AHA’s pediatric-focused courses provide advanced assessment and recognition training for healthcare professionals who treat cardiovascular emergencies in infants, children, and adolescents.  This course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency respiratory management or cardiac arrests.

Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)

The main focus of PEARS is prevention, and specifically the assessment, recognition and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress.

Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

ENA developed and implemented the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) for national and international dissemination as a means of identifying a standardized body of trauma nursing knowledge. The TNCC (Provider) is a two day course designed to provide the learner with cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills. The purpose of TNCC is to present core-level knowledge, refine skills and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing.

Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC)

ENA developed the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) to improve the care of the pediatric patient by increasing the knowledge, skill and confidence of the emergency nurse. This two-day course provides core-level pediatric knowledge and psychomotor skills needed to care for pediatric patients in the emergency care setting. ENPC is the only pediatric emergency nursing course written by pediatric nurse experts.

HeartSaver CPR/AED/First Aid

The AHA's HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Course is a classroom, Instructor-led course designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely, and effective manner.  Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration and a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

NRP 8th Edition

  • Advanced Provider Curriculum

    • The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. This course content delivers curricula for Advanced Providers who may participate in neonatal resuscitation beyond positive pressure ventilation.
    • Target Audience: Respiratory Therapists, RN, CRNA, APRN, PA, Physician, Paramedic

     

  • Essentials Provider Curriculum
    • The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at the time of delivery. This course content delivers curricula for Essentials Providers, which is appropriate for everyone involved in the care of a newborn and who may be called upon to initiate resuscitation including positive pressure ventilation.
    • Target Audience: LPN, EMT

 

Students will need to complete Online Portion (Part 1) of class within 30 days prior to attending a live, instructor led event (Part 2).  To obtain their NRP Card.

Community Hospital hosts Quarterly Performance Improvement Education and Case Review.
