McCook, Neb. — Community Hospital Health Foundation recently approved funding for a new Nilfisk Carpet Extractor to support Environmental Services (EVS) operations at Community Hospital.

The project was funded through a partnership between Community Hospital and the Community Hospital Health Foundation, with each splitting the cost toward the purchase. The new extractor replaces an older unit, allowing the department to upgrade equipment while maintaining efficient operations.

The rider-operated machine will help staff maintain carpeting throughout the facility, including patient care areas, waiting rooms, hallways, and other public spaces. Designed to sweep and extract carpets in a single pass, the equipment improves efficiency while reducing physical strain on staff.

Capable of cleaning up to 18,500 square feet per hour, the extractor offers significant productivity improvement compared to traditional walk-behind equipment. Its design allows staff to efficiently care for large, carpeted areas while continuing to meet the daily needs of the hospital.

EVS plays a vital role in supporting hospital operations and maintaining spaces used by patients, visitors, employees, and providers. From routine cleaning to managing high-traffic areas, the department helps ensure the hospital remains safe, clean, and ready to serve the community. Maintaining carpeting supports infection prevention efforts by removing dirt, debris, and contaminants from care environments.

The new carpet extractor is part of Community Hospital Health Foundation's ongoing investment in tools and equipment that support operational excellence, infection prevention, and a safe, welcoming environment.
