CHHF Announces Matching Challenge for Cancer Care
McCook, NE — October 7, 2025 — The Community Hospital Health Foundation has announced a new community challenge gift to support cancer care at Community Hospital. Dr. George, Community Hospital’s Medical Oncologist and Hematologist, will match every donation dollar-for-dollar, up to $10,000, beginning October 11 at the Concert for Healthcare.
Funds raised will directly benefit the Community Hospital Cancer Center, supporting the launch of the RestoringU program and other patient-centered services.
RestoringU is a new program at Community Hospital’s Cancer Center, created in partnership with Ashley Donovan at BeautifiU Salon and Day Spa. It provides cancer patients with wigs, head coverings, and gentle image recovery services to help them feel like themselves again during treatment. Services are offered at reduced cost, and the Community Hospital Health Foundation provides financial assistance when patients can’t afford them. RestoringU restores dignity, comfort, and confidence — so patients don’t just fight cancer, they face it with hope.
“I have seen firsthand how something as simple as a wig, a head covering, or a manicure can not only lift a patient’s spirits but also make a real difference in how they experience treatment,” said Dr. George. “That’s why I was passionate about helping launch RestoringU and personally asked for this program to become a reality. When patients feel better about how they look, it strengthens their outlook and gives them hope—and that hope can carry them through some of the hardest days of their cancer journey.”
The October 11 Concert for Healthcare—featuring Legends of Classic Rock—will serve as the official kick-off for the matching challenge. All ticket and beverage sales from the evening benefit cancer care, and every donation received that night will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
“This is an exciting opportunity for our community to come together,” said Jessica Bortner, Executive Director of the Community Hospital Health Foundation. “Every gift made during the concert will go twice as far to support cancer patients and families right here at home.”
Community members can learn more about the RestoringU program by attending Ladies Night Out: An Evening of Awareness and Connection on Wednesday, October 15, from 6–9 p.m. at Community Hospital.
