In commemoration of Arbor Day 2024, Community Hospital proudly placed a chinkapin oak tree on its premises yesterday, April 23, symbolizing a dedication to growth, resilience, and environmental consciousness.

Embracing its role as a cornerstone of regional health, Community Hospital recognizes the profound impact of green spaces on fostering healing and well-being. The introduction of the oak tree underscores the hospital's steadfast commitment to sustainability and the preservation of nature for future generations.

"We are delighted to receive this splendid chinkapin oak to our hospital grounds," remarked Troy Bruntz, Community Hospital President and CEO. "Beyond its provision of shade and natural beauty, this tree serves as a poignant reminder of our unwavering commitment to nurturing a healthier, greener space for our patients, staff, and community."

The planting ceremony was attended by Community Hospital staff, and esteemed representatives from the City of McCook's Tree Advisory Board, which included Mayor Linda Taylor, who delivered a proclamation. Chrissy Land, Western Nebraska's Community Forest Specialist, provided invaluable insights into the importance of tree planting for sustainable practices. Common Scents Nursery and Greenhouse played a pivotal role in preparing the ground and facilitating the tree planting process.

"Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the City of McCook's Tree Advisory Board, Mayor Linda Taylor, Chrissy Land, and Common Scents Nursery and Greenhouse for their essential contributions," added Bruntz.

The introduction of the chinkapin oak tree underscores Community Hospital's ongoing dedication to environmental stewardship and community well-being. The hospital invites members of the McCook community to join in celebrating this significant addition to its landscape and to continue collaborating towards a healthier, more sustainable future.
