Community Hospital Honors 2025 Caring Kind Recipient

McCook, Neb. – Pharmacist, Katie Stagemeyer, was selected as Community Hospital’s 2025 Caring Kind Award recipient. Chosen by her peers for her outstanding compassion, dedication, and commitment to patient care, Katie exemplifies the values that define excellence in healthcare.
Nominated by co-workers and chosen by Community Hospital employees and the PACT Committee (Pride, Activities, Communication, Team), her nomination reads:
“Katie consistently goes above and beyond in her role, especially when supporting the floor and ER during high-pressure situations. Her deep knowledge and calm demeanor make her an invaluable resource, particularly when it comes to setting up medication drips—she never hesitates to step in and assist, even when it’s inconvenient or outside her immediate responsibilities.
She exemplifies teamwork, kindness, and a positive attitude, always ready to answer call lights, assist patients, and support her coworkers. Whether it’s counseling patients, answering clinical questions, or even helping transport a patient to their room, she does it all with a smile and a sense of purpose.
Her colleagues describe her as a shining example of compassion, professionalism, and dedication. She brings both fun and expertise to the workplace, making her not only a trusted pharmacist but also a dependable and uplifting teammate. Her willingness to check in on others and offer help wherever needed truly sets her apart.
She doesn’t ask why she’s needed—she just shows up. Her actions speak volumes about her character and commitment to care. She embodies everything the Caring Kind Award stands for, and there is no doubt she is deeply deserving of this recognition.”
Katie’s nomination for the Caring Kind Award came from fellow staff members who recognized her tireless efforts and heartfelt approach to patient care. Her dedication to both her team and the community is evident in everything she does—from taking extra time to educate patients about their medications, to supporting colleagues in high-pressure situations. “I am incredibly honored and grateful to be recognized by my colleagues,” Katie said. “I love what I do, and I’m thankful to work with such a wonderful team and community.” Her words reflect a deep appreciation for the collaborative environment at Community Hospital and a genuine love for her work, which she carries into every interaction with patients and staff alike.
A McCook native, Katie moved to the community at age four and graduated from McCook High School in 2017. She pursued pharmacy through a unique academic path, becoming the first student to complete a two-year transfer program from Nebraska Wesleyan University to Creighton University in Omaha. After earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, she returned to her hometown, eager to serve the community that shaped her. Katie is preparing to welcome her first child in October with her husband, Peyton.
The Caring Kind Award, presented annually by the Nebraska Hospital Association, recognizes healthcare employees across the state who demonstrate exceptional care, service, and dedication. Each NHA member hospital and health system may nominate one employee who exemplifies compassion, teamwork, and service excellence in their role. Honorees, who have included hospital staff, trustees, and volunteers from diverse positions, all share a commitment to creating a positive work environment and enhancing patient care. This fall, Katie will be celebrated at the statewide Caring Kind Awards Luncheon in recognition of her outstanding contributions.
