New Community Hospital Board of Director Ratified
McCook, Neb. - Community Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Bednar to its Board of Directors. Bednar was appointed during the Board's July meeting and is completing the remainder of a term previously held by Grant Norgaard. Upon completion of the current term, Bednar will be eligible to serve up to two additional three-year terms.
Bednar serves as Chief of Education for McCook Public Schools, where he oversees curriculum and academic programming. His experience brings a valuable perspective to the Community Hospital Board.
"We are excited to add Joel to the board," said Troy Bruntz, President and CEO of Community Hospital. "The hospital and public schools have had a strong relationship for many years and have very similar visions of what we believe is best for the future of our community. We also have similar challenges to overcome. His perspective in board discussions will be very valuable."
Originally from the Kearney area, Joel and his wife, Gabby, moved to McCook to raise their family in a smaller community. Gabby, a physical therapist at Community Hospital, and Joel quickly found that McCook felt like home.
"I've always believed it's important to be involved in the community where you live," Bednar said. "Community Hospital plays such a vital role in McCook and the surrounding region. It's an exciting time for both the hospital and the community, and I'm honored to help advocate for the organization and contribute to its future success."
Bednar said he is especially impressed by the hospital's strategic vision, exceptional staff, and strong leadership team.
"Community Hospital has been a leader in so many community initiatives and projects that improve quality of life," he said. "From its investment in healthcare services to its involvement in community development, the hospital continues to make a meaningful impact. I've been impressed by the facility, the people, and the leadership. Troy and the team have created a culture that is both down-to-earth and forward-thinking."
Joel and Gabby will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in August. They have three children: Beau, a freshman, Mack, a seventh grader, and Jett, a fifth grader. Outside of work, the Bednar family enjoys
spending time outdoors, playing pickleball, attending sporting events, and staying active while supporting their children's activities.
Other members of the Community Hospital Board of Directors include Karen Craw, Matt Davidson, Darren Esch, Michael Lord, Matt Nielsen, Ashley Vontz, NP-C, Kurt Vosburg, and Rebecca Wiemers, LCSW, LMHP, MPA, PhD.
The Board also extends its sincere appreciation to Grant Norgaard for his years of service. Before accepting a position outside the region, Grant provided valuable leadership and unwavering dedication to Community Hospital. We are grateful for his many contributions to the organization and the communities we serve.
