Laboratory Department Moving Temporarily

August 9, 2021

Community Hospital’s Laboratory Department is temporarily changing locations within the hospital beginning on Wednesday, according to Brad Hays, Laboratory Director. “This is a temporary move for approximately four months while the current laboratory space is getting remodeled,” he said.

The department will be moving to the space where the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services had been located and just across the hallway from the former physical therapy entrance. Patients needing laboratory services will be directed to the new location after they screen and check in at the hospital’s main entrance.

Hays said the remodeling will include more private blood draw areas for the patients, but a more open department for employees. “The remodel will be all about privacy for the patients, and efficiency for employees,” he said. To gain efficiency, most of the walls dividing the current department will be removed.

Community Hospital’s laboratory is a full-service lab that provides services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Hays said. It is certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, also known as CLIA.
